Thoughtful gifts

Massive thank you to my Santa excellent communication throughout and they even reminded me to post an updated SotC.

This gift started off strong with some fabulous wrapping, I saw the warning on the card and then decided to save that to last. The first gift I opened was the two Jinhao 82s, fantastic colours, and I'd certainly been tempted to pick one or two up this year, inside this package was also a fude nib, I enjoy this type of nib as it allows you you get a wide variety of line width with one nib, and it is great for showing off the cool properties of ink.

The second was a set of feeler guages, these will be useful for checking and adjusting tine gaps (I think the reason one of my vintage pens has poor flow is that the tunes are too close). It also has a cool carry pouch to keep it neat and tidy.

The next gift was a number of ink samples, I look forward to trying these out.

After that I recieved a fude nib for my Hocoro dip pen, I recieved a hocoro for Christmas last year and whilst it's great for writing, the fine nib I had, didn't show all the cool parts of ink, and didn't fully represent how some of the inks look in the wider nib sizes I tend to use. This is a welcome upgrade for sure.

I then opened the largest gift in the parcel, and it was a bottle of diamine Golden Oasis. This is amazing as I explicitly stated that I hoped to get some more of this ink. I recieved a sample of this previously and I absolutely loved the ink, and was so sad when I had used up the last of it.

The last gift to open was set of stickers and wishi tape/stamps. It was at this stage that I twigged I probably had the same santa as last year as I recognised the dog on the outside tape. (I've still got about half of the stickers from last year left, and my students loved the Christmas ones). Inside this gift, there were some fountain pen stickers and wishi tape, and some Pokémon wishi stamps. (I now just need to Google how to use it as its something I've never experimented with).

Having opened all the gifts at this point I turned my attention to the card, and spoilers contained within.

It was super nice to read your kind message, and the swatching the samples is very useful I'll be sure to try them all out (along with some ink I recieved for elite tier) on my usual paper before new year. (I'll update and let everyone know how they look). As for the purple pens, you are right, I don't have many, and I even gave away one of them as part of the elite gift I sent (the twsbi eco). So these are much appreciated, you are right, and the darker one is particularly beautiful. At this stage I hadn't actually uncapped either pen, so I hurriedly opened both to see which was which. The dip pen is slightly different to the other 82 as I was unable to remove the barrel, (I had initially thought about swapping over the finials in sort of mix and match). But, it will allow me to try out using a glass nib without needing to buy an expensive vintage glass nibbed fountain pen from ebay.

Once again, thank you for everything, and I hope you had a fantastic secret santa and Christmas season.
