I'm from Russia, Nizhny Novgorod (where I graduated as applied mathematician), but living in Munich since 2017, working as Software Engineer, developing in Python and traveling around.

I have travelled many countries at all inhabited continents (72+ countries).

  • Some of the places on top of my "want to go" list: Japan, Hawaii, Alaska.
  • I prefer hiking and sleeping in my tent or hammock in the middle of nowhere instead of staying in "campings".
  • When I visit cities, I try to go to non-standard places, i.e. to see some different street art which I often enjoy more than crowded city center.
  • I enjoy driving, obviously :) I have nice bright blue Mazda MX-5 NC, the car I wanted from the childhood, so I enjoy driving around here. Before I moved to Germany, I did driving trip from Nizhny Novgorod to Norway (10k km in three weeks), so one may say I really enjoy driving.
  • I accept guests via Courchsurfing, although I rarely get responses by myself.

Some of outstanding trips I've done

  • Thanks to covid in 2020 I got into "remote" and I'm enjoying remote work now. I've bought an RV in summer and have travelled ~25k kilometers around Europe and Russia from July 2020 to Sep'21

  • 5-months non-stop around-the-world trip which I did in 2016-2017 after graduating from the university

What do I do else except travelling?

  • I won in a Green Card lottery last year and planning to move to the US at some point soon
  • I do some pet-projects and coding, automation and scripting.
  • For some years years now I also do a bit of photography with my Sony a6000 DSLR (see https://www.instagram.com/oleg.kainov/).
  • I watch a bit of anime, nowadays much less than years before. I try to catch up with ongoing One Piece (which I started to watch back in school).
  • I play board games. Back in Russia I had big collection of different games (from Ticket to Ride and Carcasson to Terra Mystica and Pandemic), here in Germany I have started to play regularly again in 2022 with my coworkers and now have quite a lot of board games, this year is the first one I'm participating in Secret Santa from BGG :)
  • I do try to play go (I even studied go in Korea for a month, should be ~13kyu, not much, but better than complete newbie). I was even participating in some random championship in Thailand when I was living there.
  • I practice a bit in classic juggling and contact juggling.
