I cannot express how overwhelmed I was when this package arrived to me. My gifter (who weirdly, was also my giftee!) could not have known that when he sent me these discs, that my childhood was going to come roaring back with it. My oldest brother was a huge influence in my life musically, and he was very into SUBPOP and the music on the label. Boxes of SUBPOP discs would come in on a regular basis - so seeing three compilations from them just brought the memories back. Giles the amazing gifter sent 10 fab discs: 4 SUBPOP compilations, TacoCat - This Mess Is A Place, Sleater Kinney - No Cities To Love, The Black Tones - Cobain & Cornbread, Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever To Tell, Bruce Springsteen - Letter To You, and The White Stripes - Elephant. I have admittedly not listened to much of these yet because life has gotten in the way (as is evident by my horrid delay in posting!) That said, Elephant is one of my fave discs and what I've heard off of the Springsteen disc is just magic (as always, because I LOVE him).
Giles, I genuinely cannot thank you enough. I am touched with how much thought you put into my gift and I look forward to setting aside some time to actually listen to these proper. Thank you SO much.
