Santa, thank you for this fun surprise! At the risk of sounding old … lol … I used to listen to Bjork in my college lab assistant days (over 20 years ago), and haven’t listened to her album in full for a long time. Singing all her songs again made me feel like a spry young college coed … even if sitting on the couch during the listening made my back hurt, hahahaha. One funny memory that came flooding back to me was as follows: Back when I was a lab assistant (how I paid rent in college), I typically worked on my own and had the entire lab area to myself. So, I could blast my music of choice. Often, that included this album. But my music taste is eclectic, so I would also commonly be playing hip hop, alternative, metal … I was typically “caught” playing rap when the occasional research scientist floated by to grab a tool or use my vent hood. So I was know for being a meek looking white girl into gangsta rap on the research team hahaha. One day, a science undergraduate researcher came in to utilize some lab tools unexpectedly during my shift. He made a very strange face. “You actually like Bjork? You like this kind of music?” Being young and too polite, I just said “yeah, kind of”. But to this day, I regret not firing back “Well, I bought the CD. Went through the effort of bringing it here. Put it in the lab computer and cranked the speakers to max. Wtf do you think, Mr. Smarty Pants Scientist?!” 😂😂😂 As you might surmise based on that response, I have developed a bit of an edge as I’ve grown up. And a backbone, thankfully, hahaha. Thanks for the nice gift, and the fun reminiscing. Hope you have a wonderful holiday.
