Hello! I am a 42 year old man in southern West Virginia (US). Married with three children, ages 15 (f), 13 (m) and 7 (f); one cat, one dog. I'm a former prison guard, now a social worker at a mental health clinic.

I'm a writer and blogger on the side, writing (and reviewing) mostly science fiction and fantasy media. Fandoms I'm into include Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, Stargate (anything with "Star", apparently), Firefly, Doctor Who, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Halo, Warhammer 40,000 (I read the novels, but I'm not into the tabletop game), The Witcher. I watch movies and TV in all of the above; other favorite movies and tv examples include Foundation (tv series), Children of Men (movie), Zombieland (movies), The Book of Eli (movies). I like post-apocalyptic stories of all types. Not big into horror, though I like the SCP Foundation.

I've been doing Secret Santa over on Redditgifts for several years now, and some of the other exchanges during the year. I usually do the Books exchanges, and Arbitrary Day, and have done a few others. I'm not usually big on specifically local gifts unless it's the kind of exchange that revolves around that, but I'll appreciate it if it happens (I live in an area that is kind of dull in terms of local gift-giving). I don't mind homemade gifts, though I usually seem to get into exchanges that don't tend toward that. I like receiving gifts through Etsy or other sources that specialize in independent artists and creators, though I have no problem with sites like Amazon as well. My favorite artist is Simon Stalenhag. Favorite bands/musical acts include Train, Steven Curtis Chapman, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Rob Zombie; I tend to be eclectic in my listening tastes, or at least I think so, so any music is welcome.

Food and snacks of all types are welcome; I don't care for white chocolate, but otherwise don't have any preferences. I don't have any food allergies, dietary restrictions, or sensitivities to scents or products. I am allergic to a few medications, but that's unlikely to affect this exchange.

I wear a Men's 3XL t-shirt size. Favorite colors are blue and purple, though I'm not averse to any colors. Hobbies: Trying to learn the guitar, but I'm only just getting started. I also write, usually sci-fi, fantasy, or thrillers (not published at this point). I read a lot of science-fiction, fantasy, and (in non-fiction) current events and politics. Mostly I read ebooks these days, for the sake of convenience; but I do casually collect vintage paperbacks, especially from the golden age of sci-fi. I play video games, usually single-player RPGs (Fallout, Elder Scrolls) and shooters (Halo); I'm not really into online multiplayer gaming. I'd like to learn knifemaking--I follow the /r/knifemaking subreddit--and bookbinding, but haven't gotten started yet on either one due to being fairly busy.
