Well, that was exciting! I knew I was expecting a parcel from the US for my snacks exchange due to track and trace, and I could not wait to receive the parcel as I know the US has some rather unique snacks. Which is great as I asked for the unique, special, odd or just downright yummy.

And then the parcel decided to go on sightseeing in Chicago for a day, then for several days, and then it added a few days more, and after 11 days on the road it finally arrived here. My Santa seemed really anxious about the long duration and the contents. Which made me somewhat anxious: Pizza? Some special sauce? A chocolate cake?

To add to the general anxiety I then missed the delivery by 3 minutes when I went out to run an errand. When I came back I decided to switch from USPS tracking to my local one - and noticed my bad luck. Ugh! As it was Saturday I had to wait all through Sunday and into Monday afternoon until I could pick up the parcel at a shop. Phew.

First thing I noticed: Local customs had opened the parcel and looked inside. Then packed everything up again. I hope nothing is missing, but judging by the customs declaration all should be fine. So what's there? There's certainly Odd! There's also yummy. And weired. And very unusual. And more yummy stuff! Three types of meat thingies: a bacon and a spicy jalapeno meat stick, and a venison meat stick. I'm totally curious of those as they aren't really a thing here! Wow, I need to try them. Lots of edible bugs. I've never tried bugs before I have to admit, and the idea of bacon & cheese crickets, and Mexican spice larvas is totally appealing to me. Yes! Bring it on :) Then the probably more usual, but totally foreign snacks: a coconut bar: ooooh, this looks soooo very good! A strawberry and a loquorice pipe. I've eaten them already, and they were totally delicious, with a taste I would not be able to get here. I have no idea what the Idaho Spud is. I'm sure I'll find out soon :D And then the Cow Pie. I had to unpack it as I really had no idea. And then I stared at it and tried to recognize a cow in it, then saw a sheep... and then I finally got it. Aaaaah ha ha ha! Good one! Also the nutritional information is fantastic! 170 calories per serving, while the pile of cow.. pie itself is two servings. Great! You get to share your thingy with someone. I've never seen anything like this here.:) I'm totally having fun with this gift, and I'm already wondering what to eat next. I could simply gorge on in, but I'm more of a 'one piece a day' snacker. Which makes the choice super difficult.

Thanks a lot dear Santa. All arrived in good order, and nothing looks spoiled. I hope customs didn't decide to remove an item, but all I got is totally wonderful, exotic and unusual. And I'm sure totally nom!
