This is my favourite exchange as I love cookbooks. On the other hand I feel a bit sad that I had to provide an Amazon wishlist as I have quite a lot of books already. But what my dear Santa chose for me was still a surprise after all as I did not look into my list at all.
And I (and my dear Santa) had to wait for quite a while for that as he was so quick with shipping while I was away from home and came back only now.
And they did deliver as I received two very lovely books. Now I'm a bit complicated when it comes to cookbooks: I want to be able to cook simple dinners (don't care much about other courses) that are downright delicious, and I'm a very international foody.
Nigel Slater books usually need a bit more work as they don't have nice stories and photos, and the description can at times be a bit simple. But all the recipes in this book are simple, sound very delicious and can be easily adjusted to be more nourishing or complex.
I also love the hearty dishes of the Hairy Bikers for quick midweek dinners, but generally their recipes are a bit too high in calories for lil'me. While I'm not on a diet their diet books are perfect as it's always easier to add stuff than to take it away and retain the taste.
So yes, a perfect 10/10. I'm very happy and excited to get cooking!
